| Simon Munnery: "One of the most original and talented comics in the country" - The Observer Simon Munnery, also known by his stagenames of Alan Parker: Urban Warrior and The League Against Tedium, is an English comedy writer and experimental standup comedian. He performs mainly to an alternative audience but has pierced the mainstream both with his BBC Radio 1 show in 1997 and his BBC2 television series, Attention Scum! in 2001. His stand-up is perhaps best described as often satirical, often political and almost always surreal. Munnery plays harmonica and his dialogue is full of quotable remarks, inviting comparison with Oscar Wilde, ("If you've only ever read one book in your life... I strongly recommend that you keep your mouth shut"). | | | | | | | | | | Hils Barker: An exciting and thought-provoking stand-up with a satirical and very silly edge, Hils can also be seen in spring 2006 in BBC3's new sketch show, The Message, which she co-wrote. She was a finalist in two major stand-up newcomer competitions; Channel 4's So You Think You're Funny? (2001) and Avalon's Daily Telegraph Open Mic Award (2002), as well as appearing in the BBC New Talent Showcases (BBC Choice, 2002). "Hilarious…star of the night." Iszi Lawrence: Iszi Lawrence, as seen in the Perrier Award winning The Passion Of The Hodgson, is an 'upbeat' comedian 'with nicely improvised material' which sits well within her intelligent, witty and fun-loving set.
